How are Nokona gloves different from other gloves?
Nokona gloves are unique, having been handcrafted in the United States since 1934 and made with a wide range of specialized leathers. Unlike most other companies who started producing offshore fifty years ago, Nokona gloves are still produced in the very same town in Texas by Americans who carefully cut, stamp, stitch, lace, and embroider each glove by hand. Unlike many overseas facilities that use mass-production techniques to create "cookie-cutter" products that are exactly the same, no two Nokona gloves are identical. Each has its own unique identity and feel, based on the careful selection of leather per part and its hand-crafted construction. Nokona puts classic American workmanship into every glove, using special techniques developed over the past 77 years.
How should I break in my Nokona?
When you purchase a Nokona, you have selected the best glove made. Nokona's select glove leathers are easy to break in, but may still take time. When getting your glove ready, we suggest that you play catch and break in your glove or mitt naturally. This will allow your glove to form a natural pocket around your hand. You may be familiar with different methods and "quick fixes" to shortcut the break-in period. Unfortunately, we have seen the sad results of many of these over the past 75-plus years. You may also use Nokona Leather Treatment (NLT), our classic glove conditioner, to help with the break-in.
How should I care for my Nokona?
Nokona gloves and mitts are made from leather that is tanned to our specifications, and are pre-oiled. Proper care will provide you longer use. We recommend using Nokona Leather Treatment (NLT) - and have for over 50 years. We swear by it - we’ve seen the results of many touted oils, but none work as well as our formula.
NLT is best applied by rubbing it into the leather with your bare hands. Work it into every area, including the laces and inside the glove where cracking takes place. Unlike liquefied oils, NLT will not soak through to the padding.
You can also clean your glove with a clean wiping cloth and NLT. Rub the surface vigorously, and the NLT will actually cause the dirt within the grain to rise up to the top where it will be picked up by the cloth.
Just as you would treat your skin when it is dry, retreat your glove as needed. To find a dealer near you who carries NLT, visit our Retail Locator.

Why are Nokona gloves spelled with a "K", when they are made in Nocona, Texas, spelled with a "C"?
While trying to trademark the name Nocona in the early 1930s, the company was told that the name of a city could not be trademarked. So, with a simple change to a "K", the brand became Nokona.
