Nokona is unique in offering a wide range of leathers, applied to the shell and palm of the glove in various combinations to meet your personal requirement of game-readiness. The Break-In period is not an indication of the quality of a leather – that is your personal preference. All Nokona leathers are top-grain and hand-selected to meet Nokona’s rigorous standards. Nokona Buffalo is highly regarded for its unique appearance and hardy nature. It is also renowned for its flex- ibility while retaining its shape and fit. The history of the buffalo and its status as an American icon make this leather an American original. Buffalo is drum-dyed then put through a gentle massaging process before being dry-milled. This accentuates its soft, supple hand.

A drum dyed, full grain steerhide that is oiled off and is sometimes called ‘pull-up’ leather. It is tumbled to tame the surface, and to acquire a natural hand. Buckskin is another signature Nokona leather, performance- tested over the past quarter century.

An old-world tanning process is used in developing the unique, random dye pattern found in Walnut Crunch. Walnut is a full aniline leather, hand crunched and baled in the wet blue state with the creases stained darker, then vacuum dried, with a feel top added to provide tackiness when handled. The natural oils and waxes incor- porated in finishing further highlight the character and feel.

Nokona’s Walnut Leather has been beefed up for the sturdier performance preferred by some baseball players. Triple H leather indicates a leather that is between 5.2 to 6 ounces – within Nokona’s stiffest range of leathers. Walnut HHH maintains the character, look and feel of Nokona’s classic Walnut, but creates a stiffer glove.

Bloodline is full grain smooth aniline leather, vacuum dried, with a feel top added for a nice “hand” in a waxy tannage. Bloodline offers a rich, traditional appearance produced on heavy steers of the highest quality.

Sandstone is a full grain smooth aniline leather, noted for its light color, thereby demanding a cleaner selection at the tannery. It has a medium to firm feel for players looking for a stiffer glove.

Pound for pound, kangaroo is one of the toughest leathers in the world. Made from wild range kangaroo directly from Australia. While lighter in weight than typical cowhides, “roo” has a tensile strength 2 to 3 times greater than cowhide. While the appearance may show scratches as a result of the kangaroo’s wild nature, this leather is ideal for the fingers of Nokona gloves.
